Getting here

The hotel sits at the far south-eastern edge of Berlin, on the Zeuthener See, about forty-five minutes from the city centre and twenty from the airport. Closer to the airport than to Alexanderplatz, which surprises most people.

By plane

Land at Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER), which is the only airport Berlin has left and conveniently close to the hotel.

From Sofia

Wizz Air fly direct. The timings work well for the weekend: in early on the Friday morning, out on the Sunday evening. Bulgaria Air also fly the route, though the 2027 schedule is not published yet and they are usually the more expensive of the two.

From Kuala Lumpur

We would suggest Turkish Airlines via Istanbul, which keeps you clear of routings through the Middle East.

However you come, think about arriving a few days early. It is a six or seven hour time difference, and nobody wants to spend the wedding fighting to stay awake. Thursday at the lake exists partly for this reason.

By train

Long-distance trains into Berlin stop at several stations. Aim for Berlin-Südkreuz or Berlin-Ostbahnhof rather than Hauptbahnhof — both are further south and east, which puts you closer to the hotel and saves you crossing the city.

From either, it is roughly an hour out to Schmöckwitz on public transport. See the last section below.

By car

Come along the Schmöckwitzer Damm, heading towards Rauchfangswerder. The last stretch runs through forest with the lake on one side.

There are 50 free parking spaces in front of the hotel, so no need to plan anything.

The last few kilometres

By Uber

From the airport this is the easy answer: about €25 and twenty minutes. Stan recommends asking for an electric car, which is usually the same price and a considerably nicer ride down the forest road.

By public transport

Possible, and cheap, but allow an hour or more.

The last kilometre from Alt Schmöckwitz to the hotel you can walk in about fifteen minutes, or take Bus 168 — a cute mini van — to Schmöckwitzer Damm.

Rather than trusting anything printed here in advance, put the hotel into the BVG journey planner or Google Maps on the day and it will tell you the current connection.

Coming from the airport together?

If several of you land around the same time on the Friday, you can share an Uber. Tell us which flight you are taking and we will put you in touch with each other.
